After a succession of both local and out-of-town owners, Snyder Communications purchased The Evening Sun on May 2, 1994. For the first time in over 15 years, The Evening Sun was again owned locally, this time by a growing family of successful companies that employ nearly 200 employees.
Dubbed "Chenango County's Hometown Daily," The Evening Sun delivers thousands of copies everyday. Additionally, the paper is viewed electronically by thousands of online viewers every week. To check them out online, go to www.evesun.com .
Sun Printing, Inc.:
Sun Printing Inc. became a reality in 2001. A twelve-unit press was purchased expanding our press to 16 modern units. Each week SPI prints thousands of copies of our 7 free community publication, as well as, Chenango County's Hometown Daily, The Evening Sun.
Still, this is not the only function of Sun Printing or the 30 employees at the new facility. Besides printing our papers, our staff inserts thousands of advertising circulars into our publications each and every week. Whether you are a national or local retailer, our publications help to bring you and our readers together every week.
There have been many changes in the print industry since 2001, but Sun Printing remains as one of the largest print facilities in Central New York.
The Gazette:
For more than a century and half, The Gazette has served the residents of the Unadilla and Butternut valleys by providing a weekly report of news, information, sports and entertainment important to the families of these rural communities.
The Gazette has a rich and lengthy history, and over the years has evolved as an amalgam of several small community weeklies, becoming the we received publication it is today primarily covering the communities of Burlington Flats, Edmeston, Garrattsville, New Lisbon, West Burlington, West Edmeston, and Morris. Hometown correspondents from each of these small hamlets contribute to the old-fashioned feel of the newspaper, with both news of wide import and "talk of the town" appeal.
Snyder Communications purchased The Gazette in 1995, when the previous owners announced they would cease publication.
